Br. Robert (Bob) Larouere, SJ, died on December 15, 2014 in Philadelphia, PA. He was a Jesuit Brother for 49 years.

Br. Larouere was born on December 13, 1934 in Turtle Creek, PA just north of Philadelphia. After graduating from high school and without the funds for college, he joined the military, laying mine fields in Germany for eighteen months.  Upon return, he found himself yearning for a more purposeful and fulfilling existence. He entered the Society of Jesus as a Jesuit Brother at Wernersville, PA on August 14, 1965.

In 1968, Br. Larouere was assigned to Georgetown Preparatory School in Bethesda, MD, and the rest as they say is history. Mentoring students and overseeing the Golf Club became Br. Larouere’s passion, even though he often admitted to never being a big golfer himself. Students through multiple generations consider Br. Bob an icon of their youth, someone who was always there for them through thick and thin.

For more than four decades, Br. Larouere called Georgetown Prep home, providing his support and guidance to his beloved Golf Club throughout his entire tenure.  He moved into Manresa Hall in 2011 where he passed away on December 15, 2014 at the age of 80.
