Jesuit missionary in India for more than thirty years, Rev. Edgar Graham, S.J., dies at 92

Rev. Edgar Graham, S.J., died on February 1, 2015 in Philadelphia, PA. He was a Jesuit priest for 60 years.

 A native of Baltimore, MD, Father Graham was an alumnus of both Loyola High School and Loyola College in Baltimore. After pronouncing his first vows in July of 1944 and completing studies in Philosophy at Woodstock College in 1948, he proactively sought assignment in India. It was the right calling. For more than thirty years, he dedicated himself as a teacher of math, English, science and ethics in Jamshedpur, Chaibasa and Jealgora India. He furthered his own education as well at Loyola in Jamshedpur and De Nobili College in Poona, India.

 As a true missionary in the field, Father Graham never forgot how important the prayers and support from colleagues, friends and family were to his vocation, humbly referring to those who prayed for him as equal missionaries in his work.

 Father Graham returned to the states in 1985 where he served as Assistant Chaplain at Good Samaritan Hospital in Baltimore and as House Treasurer for his alma mater, Loyola College. In 2008, he moved to Manresa Hall in Philadelphia. Remembering how important the prayers of others meant to him while living out his vocation, Father Graham continued to pray for the Church and the missions of the Society of Jesus until his death at 92.

May 12, 2020 - Susan Baber has been named the Associate Provincial Assistant for Secondary Education for the new USA East Jesuit Province. The new province will come into being on July 31, Susan will assume this new role in August.

Fr. Dennis E. McNally, SJ, beloved painter and professor of fine arts at Saint Joseph’s University, dies at 76.

May 5, 2020 - Let us pray that deacons, faithful in their service to the Word and the poor, may be an invigorating symbol for the entire Church.

May 1 marks the annual Religious Brothers Day, when we celebrate our Jesuit Brothers who go wherever they are needed and do whatever needs to be done.
