On February 28, 2015, 9 members of the "Escuela de Espiritualidad Ignaciana" (School of Ignatian Spirituality) completed the last of five sessions at Sacred Heart parish in Richmond, VA. This final day-long session of the program was presented by Fr. Bill Noe, SJ on St. Ignatius and the Spiritual Exercises.
The School of Ignatian Spirituality (Escuela de Espiritualidad Ignaciana) is a 40-hour long formation program (5 Saturdays) sponsored by The Jesuit Collaborative. It seeks to form men and women in Ignatian Spirituality so that they can assist members of their parishes in learning more about Ignatian Spirituality and develop a life of prayer in the Ignatian tradition.
This is the third group that has completed the five sessions of the School. Previously, 6 people from Raleigh NC (St. Raphael the Archangel Parish) and 29 from New Haven CT (St. Rose of Lima Church), finished this program.
One of the participants and local coordinator of the Escuela in Richmond, Domingo Caratachea, reflected on his learnings from the presentation, “After praying with my notes last night and today, I came to identify what concrete things I learned which will be helpful for me in my spiritual life: the Spiritual Exercises are a unique way to enter the life of God; the Spiritual Exercises are not for reading or teaching, they are to be received; and the Spiritual Exercises are to help one fall in love with Jesus.”
