Fr. James Fleming, SJ, will be the next Rector of the Georgetown Jesuit Community

Father General Arturo Sosa, SJ, has appointed Fr. James J. Fleming, SJ, as the next Rector of the Georgetown Jesuit Community. Fr. Fleming is a member of the USA Northeast Province and will assume this responsibility in January of 2018. He has most recently served as president of Wheeling Jesuit University for the last seven years. He looks forward to leading the Georgetown community and its apostolic mission.

The Maryland Province thanks Fr. Joseph Lingan, SJ, for his generous leadership as Rector to the Georgetown community for the past six years. Fr. Lingan has faithfully served both the men and the apostolates in Georgetown. He also played an integral role in the smooth transition of the Holy Trinity and Georgetown Prep communities becoming a part of one community at Georgetown.
