There are nine Jesuit parishes from Pennsylvania to Georgia, all within the Maryland Province. A Jesuit parish is guided by the spirituality of St. Ignatius Loyola. One of the marks of Ignatian spirituality is the Spiritual Exercises of St. Ignatius. The Exercises encourage people to reflect on their experiences and to discern God’s presence in their lives. Jesuit parishes aim to put faith into action through service, to nurture lay leadership and to encourage growth in each person's relationship with God. Jesuit parishes are also committed to “the faith that does justice” through solidarity with the poor and dedication to the greater good of society.
Jesuit parishes are located in inner cities, suburbs and rural areas, as well as on college campuses.
